BMW

BMW is a German automobile manufacturer, the name BMW is an abbreviation for Bayerische Motoren Werke. This then translates to Bavarian Motor Works in English. In the recent years BMW have been looking at creating the “I” models which are electric / hybrid cars. BMW also manufacture motor bikes and have been doing so since the first world war.

BMW was founded in 1916 and started off by creating aircraft engines, this then continued through the first and second world war. After the world war BMW were not allowed to create any automobiles and most of their factories were either bombed or seized, during this time BMW used basic secondhand and salvaged equipment to make pots and pans, later expanding to other kitchen supplies and bicycles.

In 1947 BMW were granted the rights to continue working on motorcycles, BMW then realised their first motorcycle post-war which was the “R24”. However they still had the ban on the automobiles till 1952 which they then realised their first post-war automoile “BMW 501”.
